Overview

Dream Center Evansville began in 1998 as a Christ-centered after-school program serving children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Over the years, it has grown into a comprehensive Cradle-to-Career service organization, dedicated to empowering the children and families in the Jacobsville community in Evansville. We’ve made a promise to help every Jacobsville child reach social, spiritual, and economic mobility, and we believe deeply in that promise. We are now seeking our next Executive Director to lead us into the next decade of serving children and families of Jacobsville.

Specific Requirements and Experience

  • Visionary and dynamic leader with creativity, strategic insight, resourcefulness, and strong organizational and planning abilities.
  • Proven nonprofit and philanthropic leader with a track record of driving successful initiatives.
  • Expertise in program management, personnel supervision, public relations, budgeting, fundraising, financial oversight, and sustainable nonprofit development.
  • Skilled at inspiring teams and building consensus among staff, board members, and community partners.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors and knowledge of the role that a non-profit Board of Directors play in the life of an organization.
  • Deep understanding of cradle-to-career ministry models and their objectives.
  • In-depth knowledge of the needs of our community.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and engaging community partners and supporters.

Principal Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Champion the Mission/Vision

Serve as the internal and external ambassador of the mission and effectively tell the compelling story of the mission for the purpose of raising awareness and friends of the ministry. Ensure consistent and effective communication of the vision and mission with all staff, board, donors, volunteers, community partners, and local churches. Be a public ambassador for the mission and take the mission into the community by speaking, sharing, partnering, and cultivating relationships. Be a resource and a friend to our partners, local churches, faithful supporters, and the community at large.

Oversee and Lead the Organization

Collaborate with board members and staff on the development and implementation of ongoing strategic and operational plans. Ensure organizational accountability, financial solvency, build consensus, and foster a culture that ensures clarity in the organizational priorities, and short-term results with a focus on long-term impact. Oversee Dream Center Evansville relationships, attend meetings, promote, organize, and approve initiatives that serve Dream Center Evansville’s mission. Develop policies that ensure the organization is well-organized, operationally efficient, well-funded, and consistent in decision making, while providing staff and volunteers with clear guidance on what is expected of them.

Provide Fiscal Oversight

Establish and oversee the annual budget. Ensure that the accounting activities of the organization are managed effectively, ethically, legally, accurately, and responsibly. Engage with outside financial partners such as accounting experts and/or auditors to make certain that the organization remains in good standing with generally accepted accounting methods.

Inspire and Build a Mission-Oriented Team

Facilitate an organizational culture that inspires staff and volunteers to embody the core values, motivates achievement of the mission and connects people. Identify, recruit, train, and develop a talented team of employees and volunteers. Champion an environment that spurs people to do all things with excellence and joy while being generous with their time, talents and treasures. Lead by example in loving and serving the children and families of Jacobsville.

Engage, Partner, and Mobilize the Board

Meaningfully engage with the board in strategic and fundraising activities. Work in partnership with the board to shape and cast the vision, drive accountability of organizational alignment to the vision, and ensure adherence to pathways of success. Cultivate opportunities that promote the mission and drive active board involvement. Work with the board to ensure continual growth, evaluation, and development of the board. Proactively engage board members as thought partners, leveraging their capacity to support the organization.

Steward and Lead a Sustaining Movement

Oversee fundraising planning and implementation including identifying resource requirements, partnering with the board and staff in implementing donor strategies. Participate and lead fundraising campaigns. Establish and maintain relationships with key individual donors, corporate donors, foundations and other city and community partners. Ensure that donors and volunteers are developed as life advocates of the ministry. Pursue and incorporate additional revenue sources through various fundraising mechanisms, consistent with the organization’s mission statement.

Compensation Overview and Application Instructions

Compensation: $70,000 to $110,000. Compensation is dependent on experience level and may include performance-based bonuses.

Dream Center Evansville provides PTO, a generous health insurance reimbursement plan, and a retirement plan with an employer match.
